Literary agent, artisan, and novelist Wendy Lawton is the author of the Daughters of the Faith series. About five years ago, she and her family moved from their ranch in California with its 100-year-old garden and Wendy's unique writing studio. But her son has planted 35 bareroot roses in her new garden, many English roses (mostly David Austin roses), along with camellias and spring annuals. The new garden is progressing beautifully as you can see from the photos below. Visit Wendy's website at www.wendylawton.com

Even Wendy's desk is often home to a potted flower (and a cup of tea.)

Oh, to move away from that! Mercy! I hope you get a new haven set up, Wendy!

We've got the new garden started and it's coming along nicely but what I miss most is soil that had been amended for over one hundred years-- expert gardeners for all that time. I could dig the sandy loam with nothing but my hand. Our new garden? Well, I'm just saying. . .
